LINK's Food Program is our primary mission and through it we supply emergency food to people within the Herndon, Sterling, and Ashburn, Virginia communities
LINK provides Financial Assistance to 111 clients totaling $46,991.37 in Northern Virginia. Our assistance helps clients with covering their rent and utilities.
Working with area schools, LINK volunteers pick up surplus unopened, perishable items from school lunches, and include them in our food deliveries. The program began in March 2012 with one elementary school – Dranesville Elementary in Fairfax County and now we rescue food from 5 schools in Fairfax County and on a county-wide basis in Loudoun County. The food typically rescued includes individual milk cartons, yogurt, fruit, and snacks. LINK is able to include the food in the regular weekly food deliveries to families and also shares the food with Cascade Village Apartments and Embry Rucker Shelter.
Mobile Food Pantry – LINK has distributed more than 350,000 pounds of fresh vegetables, fruits and non-perishable food to more than 6400 families. We could use volunteers to help at our Mobile Food Pantry events which are held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the rear parking lot at Christ the Redeemer Church from 12:30 pm – 3 pm. The food is donated by the Capital Area Food Bank.
Every year our goal is to provide each family with additional Holiday help. In
