What We Do
LINK runs several programs to provide food and financial assistance to families in Hendon, Sterling, and Ashburn, Virginia communities.
LINK's Emergency Food Program is our primary mission and through it we supply emergency food to people within the Herndon, Sterling, and select Ashburn, Virginia communities. LINK delivers Tuesday through Fridays (4pm - 8pm) and Saturdays (1pm - 4pm). In 2022, we delivered to 3,330+ families and provided $126,000+ in grocery gift cards.
Every year our goal is to provide each family with additional Holiday help. In prior years, we provided 3 to 5 days of non-perishable food, a voucher for coats and warm clothing, gifts for children 16 and under, and grocery gift cards (as funds allow).
Partnered with Fairfax County Coordinated Services Planning and Loudoun Cares, LINK provides financial assistance for utilities and rent to prevent service disconnection and eviction.
Mobile Food Pantry
On the second Tuesday of each month, LINK offers a Mobile Food Pantry in the rear parking lot of Christ the Redeemer Church (46833 Harry Byrd Hwy., Sterling) from 11 am - 1 pm (or until the food is all distributed). The food is donated by the Capital Area Food Bank and usually consists of vegetables, fruits and canned goods. There are no restrictions - anyone who shows up can receive the food.
Store Food Rescue
LINK rescues food from several area restaurants or stores. Our clients love receiving delicious food from these locations - Wawa (Sterling), Kentucky Fried Chicken (Sterling), Trader Joe's (Reston), and Target (Sterling).
School Food Rescue
LINK rescues food from area schools in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. Pick ups usually occur on Mondays during the school year.
