LINK's Primary Purpose
LINK
has a Holiday Food Basket Program that is in addition to
our primary purpose of providing emergency food assistance
to those in need in the Herndon Sterling Ashburn areas of Northern Virginia. Our primary purpose is
performed by LINK volunteers 5 days a week, every week of the year except the
week following our Thanksgiving and Christmas Holiday Food Basket Programs.
LINK's Holiday Food
Basket Program distributes food baskets at Thanksgiving and Christmas. LINK also includes coats, gloves
and hats at Thanksgiving, and gifts for children at Christmas.
The purpose of this Holiday Food Basket Program is similar to our primary
purpose, to help those in our community that might not have a "special" meal at
Thanksgiving and Christmas. LINK's program is different from most because, in
our program, clients that have pre-registered to receive food, visit a
distribution point at a scheduled time and select their food like they
would in a grocery store. The amount of food given is based on family size.
